Awards: John Wayne Auxiliary to Honor Founder

Sandy Cohen will receive a Woman of Achievement Angel Award Wednesday in recognition of her work for the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary.

The auxiliary, co-founded by Cohen in 1983, is a fund-raising and volunteer arm of the institute. Since it was established, the auxiliary has raised more than $4 million for the institute’s research.

Cohen is also a regular volunteer at the Institute’s Breast Center, where she was treated for breast cancer several years ago.

The luncheon will be held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire and is open to the public. A $75-per-person donation is required.
