An aircraft trying to retrace the 1919 first-ever flight from England to Australia crash-landed in Indonesia on Sunday, an air force official said.

Two pilots and two technicians aboard the plane, a replica of the twin-engined Vickers Vimby bomber biplane that made the original flight, were alive and appeared to have escaped serious injuries, officials said.

A local rescue team was on its way to southern Sumatra, near where the plane went down, the official from Indonesia’s main airport in Jakarta said. He said the rescue team was expected to pick up the four people from the beach.
