BankAmerica Gets Underwriting Approval: The Federal Reserve Board said it approved a request by BA Securities Inc., a unit of BankAmerica Corp., to begin underwriting new debt and equity offerings. Although BankAmerica is the nation’s second-largest bank holding company, it has never had a large presence in the underwriting business.
