Two Philharmonious Wines

The front labels of the 1993 Chardonnay and 1992 Meritage red wine blend may not prominently name the winery, but the wines are made by the well-known Silverado Vineyards of the Napa Valley. They make the purpose of the wines clear, anyway, with an artist’s conception of the future home of the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be named the Walt Disney Concert Hall. About 50% of the proceeds from every bottle goes to the Philharmonic. It’s appropriate that the wines are made by Silverado, since that winery is owned by the family of the late film and amusement park executive, Lillian Disney, and her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Ron Miller.
