A federal prison parolee who shot a man to death at a Downtown Los Angeles nightclub during an argument about a woman was sentenced Thursday in Torrance Superior Court to 30 years to life in state prison.

Roy David Summers, 29, was convicted of first-degree murder last month in the slaying of Thomas C. Williams, 27.

Prosecutors said Summers--who had been released from federal prison two months earlier after serving six years for drug trafficking and a weapons code violation--shot Williams to death at the Mayan club at 11th and Hill streets on May 20, 1993.
