Country Acknowledges Double-Digit Inflation: Vietnam said it will fail to keep inflation in single figures this year. “To keep the inflation index just a little bit over 10%, it will be necessary to apply some drastic measures,” said Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, vice chairman of the government’s pricing commission. These will include, he said, strict management of production, imports and exports; concentrating on projects that can be finished quickly; checking state spending on capital construction; increasing tax revenue, and regulating rice exports. Inflation in Vietnam through September was 9.8%.
