From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Economic Forecast Due: The first of the season’s crop of 1995 economic outlook reports for Orange County will be delivered Friday at Cal State Fullerton by economics department Chairman Anil Puri. This is the third annual county forecast by the university’s Institute for Economic and Environmental Studies and comes at a time when the signals are quite mixed. On the negative side, a long-awaited recovery is being threatened by a series of major plant closures and continued aerospace and computer industry layoffs. But state employment officials also say they underestimated job growth in California and that there may have been 200,000 more jobs created than originally thought. Against that backdrop, Puri will deliver his reading on the county’s economic future, while First Interstate Bancorp economist Lynn Reaser will discuss the state and national forecasts.
