SPI Pharmaceuticals Inc.: The Costa Mesa drug company posted a 46% gain in profit for the third quarter to $10.1 million, or 47 cents a share, from $6.9 million, or 34 cents a share, for the same period last year. Sales increased 32% to $92.8 million from $70.2 million. For the first nine months of 1994, profit was up to $23.7 million, or $1.13 a share, from $13.7 million, or 68 cents a share, for the comparable 1993 period. Sales declined to $243.9 million from $256.3 million.
