Varco International Inc.: The Orange-based manufacturer of oil and gas well-drilling equipment said third-quarter profit tripled from the year-earlier period to $3 million, or 9 cents a share, from $1 million, or 3 cents a share. Revenue increased 24% to $54.2 million from $43.7 million. For the first nine months, profit climbed to $8.3 million, or 25 cents a share, from $3.8 million, or 11 cents a share, for the first three quarters in 1993. Revenue rose 18% to $163.1 million from $138.2 million.
