NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Defense Plea Barred in Abortion Killings
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A judge in Pensacola ruled that the man accused of murdering a doctor and his security escort in July cannot defend the killings as justifiable homicide. Escambia County Circuit Judge Frank Bell said Paul Hill could not defend himself by arguing that the action was justifiable because killing a doctor who performed abortions protected the lives of unborn children. Hill, 40, of Pensacola, is accused of shooting to death Dr. John Britton, 69, of Fernandina Beach and James Barrett, 74, of Pensacola.
