First Data Corp. to Buy Firm: In a move to expand its credit card transaction-processing business, the company said, it will acquire privately held Card Establishment Services Inc. for $500 million in stock. The deal puts Hackensack, N.J.-based First Data, the nation’s largest provider of processing services to credit card-issuing banks, in the business of handling charge card payments to retailers.
