Perrier With a Twist

Share

A crowd gathered at Lunaria on Saturday, Nov. 5, for the greening of America, French-style. “When people go to a bar in France and don’t want to drink alcohol,” explained Josseline Tamers, publisher of the French-language magazine Aller Simple and organizer of the event, “they’ll ask for a Perrier de menthe . They give you a glass with some mint syrup and ice cubes and a bottle of Perrier. It’s very green, very pretty and very refreshing. You mix it and have conversation. It’s a ritual like tea in England.”

Not everyone was as enamoured with the minty concoction. “Sure, it’s pretty,” said one taster, “but it tastes likes Kaopectate.”
