Nations Pledge $2 Billion to Vietnam: Rich donor nations pledged the amount in aid and low-interest loans to support the Hanoi government’s economic reform program, the World Bank said in a statement. The cash, which was promised following a two-day meeting at the World Bank’s offices in Paris, is slightly more than the $1.8 billion Vietnam got a year ago, just after Japan and France sponsored the Communist state’s return to the international financial community by covering some of its debts.
