Final Skate for British Duo

Share

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who first took to the ice together 20 years ago and made an Olympic comeback with a third-place medal this year in Lillehammer, Norway, will appear in an exhibition Sunday at the Great Western Forum.

The tour, called “Face the Music,” is a farewell for the skating team, because it’s likely to be the last time the dazzling British duo perform together as partners. Dean, who married ice skater Jill Trenary in October (she also appears in the exhibition), plans to pursue a career as a ballet choreographer. Torvill, who has been married for four years, is planning to start a family.

Audiences can see the pair--and more than a dozen other world-class skaters--in one performance only Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., or at San Diego Sports Arena on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
