Nation IN BRIEF : ILLINOIS : Rostenkowski Says He’s Seeking a Job
Dan Rostenkowski, the once-powerful congressman swept out of office in Nov. 8 elections, told the Chicago Sun-Times he has more than $500,000 in unpaid legal bills and is looking for work. Rostenkowski, 66, said in the interview that he has $230,000 in unpaid legal bills for staff members and $300,000 to $400,000 in outstanding bills for his own legal battle against a 17-count federal indictment. Rostenkowski has already exhausted a $1-million campaign fund and a $1-million legal defense fund. The Chicago lawmaker said he was hoping to obtain consultant fees at corporations and was considering academic lectureships.
