Share

USC tailback Shawn Walters is in the doghouse, but might be released after only a day or two.

Walters missed two blocks that resulted in two of UCLA’s six sacks of Rob Johnson in the loss on Saturday. Walters, who has a cracked thumb, started against UCLA but had only three carries.

Backup Leonard Green gained 86 yards in 18 carries and scored a touchdown.

Coach John Robinson said Walters would be the starter against Notre Dame. The 225-pound sophomore is averaging five yards per carry and has gained 852 yards this season.
