Robbers Hold Day-Care Children at Gunpoint
Dade County police were on the lookout Tuesday for a pair of thieves who held six adults and 70 preschoolers at gunpoint and then robbed their day-care center.
Two men wearing ski masks walked into Skipper Chuck’s Child Care Center in Carol City, a neighborhood north of Miami, on Monday morning.
As teachers begged the crying children to duck, one man grabbed teachers’ purses and cash and checks from a register. The two then ran from the building and drove away. Teachers said they tried to calm the children by telling them the crime was a practice drill.
