In a further sign that Orange County’s economy is improving, Coldwell Banker said Thursday that it is planning to hire 47 full-time workers at its corporate headquarters.

“We’re going to need a whole new slew of people,” company spokesman Hugh Siler said.

In particular, the company is looking for computer programmers, database administrators, analysts and others. The company plans to buy newspaper advertisements and hold a job fair in January.

The company said it expects to hire the new employees by February. They would bring the Mission Viejo-based company’s corporate employment to 501.

“During the next six weeks, we will be adding employees at a rate of nearly one per day,” said Chandler Barton, president of Coldwell Banker Corp.

Most of the new employees will work in an international relocation services unit that was formed in conjunction with Integrated Systems Solutions Corp., an IBM subsidiary. Coldwell’s other two major divisions manage its 300 corporate-owned real estate offices and about 2,000 affiliates in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Besides the usual benefits, Coldwell is touting its on-staff physical therapist, fitness center, self-defense and aerobics classes, and health screening and testing.
