Wade Richards; Getty Museum Educator

Wade Richards, 31, educator for the past five years at the J. Paul Getty Museum. His responsibilities included teaching in the galleries, organizing interactive exhibitions and administering the volunteer docent program. Last year, Richards was honored as the Pacific region educator of the year by the National Art Education Assn. An activist against AIDS, Richards was a founding member and served as co-chairman of the Alliance for Lesbian and Gay Concerns and helped focus the museum community’s attention on AIDS. Among his articles in museum journals were “AIDS in the Workplace: What I Have Learned” and “The Interactive Gallery at the J. Paul Getty Museum.” Richards had a bachelor’s degree in religion and medieval studies from Duke University and a master’s in archeology from UCLA.
