HANUKKAH ENDS: The last candles will be lit Sunday night as Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights, approaches its Monday conclusion, but not before several celebrations Sunday afternoon in the San Fernando Valley.

Valley Cities Jewish Community Center, 13164 Burbank Blvd., Sherman Oaks, will hold a Hanukkah celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday with music, art, games, food, theater and a menorah candle lighting ceremony. Admission for members of the center is $5 for adults, $3 for children; non-members, $7 for adults, $5 for children.

Comedian Morey Amsterdam, a featured regular on the “Dick Van Dyke Show,” and songwriting brothers Richard and Robert Sherman of Oscar-winning Disney movie fame will be part of a special show 1:30 p.m. Sunday for residents of the Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda.

Temple Ahavat Shalom’s Early Childhood Education Center will present a holiday concert, “Hanukkah at Home,” 1 p.m. Sunday at the synagogue at 18200 Rinaldi Place, Northridge. For more information, call (818) 360-5183.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC: Special pre-Christmas concerts at San Fernando Valley area churches include events in Encino, Panorama City and Glendale.

A concert featuring the combined choirs of Encino’s Bethel Lutheran Church will perform at 7 p.m. today and Sunday under the direction of Glenn Hecox. On Sunday the concert will precede the church’s annual Christmas turkey dinner. The suggested donation for the concert is $5; the dinner is $13 for adults and $5 for children. At Panorama Presbyterian Church, the Santa Clarita Valley Concert Band will perform Christmas classics and accompany a sing-along, starting at 4 p.m. Sunday in the church’s sanctuary at 14201 Roscoe Blvd., Panorama City. On Friday night, the Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church will present its annual Christmas concert, conducted by John T. Dennison and including Kirke Mechem’s “Seven Joys of Christmas” and “Christmas in the Southwest,” a collection of Spanish carols. The 7 p.m. concert is free. CHRISTMAS SPIRIT: A Christmas festival including arts and crafts, music and photo opportunities with Santa Claus will be held at Woodland Hills Presbyterian Church from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lunch will be provided at the free event, which begins after the 10 a.m. worship service at the church, 5751 Platt Ave.

CONCERT: Christian recording artists Rick and Cathy Riso will join the vocal group Heavenbound Sound in a year-end fund-raising concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks, 4445 Noble Ave. Tickets are $8.50 and child care will be provided.

TALK: Father John Hampsch, a member of the Claretian order who specializes in television and tape-recorded ministries, will be the guest speaker at the Catholic Community Luncheon at noon Wednesday at Barone’s Restaurant, 10123 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake.
