NCAA VOLLEYBALL : Bruins, Trojans Win at Home

The UCLA and USC women’s volleyball teams each won home matches Saturday in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
No. 3 UCLA used a balanced attack to defeat Georgia Tech, 15-7, 15-9, 15-8, at Pauley Pavilion.
Freshman Kara Milling led the Bruins (29-3) with 12 kills. Annett Buckner and Jenny Johnson each contributed 11.
Kim Krull twisted her ankle on the first play of the game but returned to add 10 kills against Georgia Tech (26-9).
No. 9 USC defeated No. 19 New Mexico, 15-13, 15-4, 15-6, behind a powerful performance by Meika Wagner at the Lyon Center. Wagner had 17 kills and hit .538 for the Trojans (21-7). Lauri Yust and Kelly Kuebler contributed 16 and 11 kills, respectively.
