Peace Fund for Kids
My wife and I were deeply touched by a story in Liz Smith’s Nov. 25 column dealing with Judy Collins’ recent visit to Yugoslavia for UNICEF.
It was during this visit that she learned of the grotesque “flower mines,” of which children are the principal targets, and which have inspired her new Christmas album, “Song for Sarajevo.”
A telephone number--(800) FOR-KIDS--was listed in Smith’s report for anyone interested in helping the children of Sarajevo, especially this holiday season.
We called the number listed, which is a regional office for UNICEF; but for more information on the Judy Collins/Sarajevo project, we were directed to UNICEF in New York City.
