HUNTINGTON BEACH : New Public Works Director Has O.C. Ties

The city has hired a new public works director.
The City Council recently approved City Administrator Michael T. Uberuaga’s selection of Les Jones. Since 1991, Jones was city manager of Los Altos Hills.
Jones, who began his public service career in 1976 for the city of Garden Grove, will begin with the city on Jan. 9. His salary will be $8,100 a month. Jones holds a bachelor of arts degree in public administration from Cal State Fullerton and has done graduate studies at Cal State Long Beach and San Diego State University.
He also has worked for the city of Coronado, in San Diego County, where he was assistant to the city manager and later, director of public works.
