Scientists will unveil evidence supporting the belief that man-made chlorine is causing the ozone hole above Antarctica, NASA officials said.

Details will not be released until Monday, but the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said data from the Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite makes it clear that chlorine, an ingredient in chlorofluorocarbons, is responsible.

CFCs are being phased out globally, but scientists fear it will take decades for significant improvement in the ozone layer.
