General Motors Increases 1995 Model Prices by 0.7%: The price hike by the automobile giant will amount to about $151 per vehicle, effective Jan. 3. The latest increase is in addition to GM’s announcement in June that prices on its 1995 models would rise by about 2.5%, or $494 a vehicle, from 1994 model prices. The auto maker said the latest price increases include vehicles that were priced below comparably equipped rival models. Industry analysts said GM was making the mid-model-year adjustment simply to increase its profitability at a time when overall demand for vehicles, notably some truck models, is strong. “The cost of material is up, but it’s nothing that can’t be offset by increases in productivity,” S.G. Warburg analyst Nick Lobaccaro said.
