Shanghai Bans Cigarette Advertising on TV, Radio

SHANGHAI —
Following a ban on smoking in public places, Shanghai will halt cigarette advertising on television and radio starting Jan. 1, the Wen Hui daily reported Thursday.
No new permits for cigarette advertisements in public places will be granted outside an existing 1,000 telephone booths and 150 lighted billboards.
