Always the Bridesmaid, Never a Good Dress

TIMES FASHION EDITOR

After noticing that bridal parties were flocking to her boutiques for bridesmaid dresses, Nicole Miller decided to pay serious attention to that understandably anxiety-ridden clientele.

Her motto is simple:

“No one (no matter how young, no matter how beautiful) looks good in teal taffeta. . . .”

Amen. This month, the designer launches her first collection of bridesmaid and special occasion dresses, priced from $245 to $405, at boutiques nationwide.

The collection includes 10 basic silhouettes available in a variety of lengths and colors--hold the teal. For store information, call (800) 365-4721.

The Grass Is Always Greener: While we fantasize about being married to a rich film producer, wives of rich film producers yearn to write superficial first-person stories.

“A funny thing happened to me this summer when I was jogging around O.J. Simpson’s Brentwood mansion,” writes Linda (Mrs. Jerry) Bruckheimer in the current Mirabella.

The funny thing, it turns out, is that Bruckheimer encounters all manner of Hollywood types, a district attorney and Mayor Richard Riordan, all “enjoying a good, old-fashioned walk.” (Who’d she expect on the upscale back roads of 90049? Slackers?)

The trainer at the Gym (“where Nicole and O.J. Simpson and Ronald Goldman all worked out”) confirms the popularity of this wacky walking trend, as does the owner of Bruckheimer’s own gym (where “Vendela, in the middle of a strenuous workout . . . volunteers, ‘I walk!’ ”). But our personal favorite testimonial to walking is one Bruckheimer extracts from Knicks coach Pat Riley.

“Walking is my dream awake time. . . .”

Hair Repair: Sharon Stone has created a cottage industry playing flawed blondes. But when it comes to her hair, there are no flaws allowed.

Recently, Stone required an emergency “color correcting” visit from Beverly Hills stylist Jonathan Gale of the Juan Juan salon. With all the right chemicals in hand, Gale rushed to the set of “Casino,” filming in Las Vegas. Stone’s part? A stunning blonde.
