American Home Products Withdraws Aleve Suit: The maker of Advil said it voluntarily withdrew the suit it filed against Procter & Gamble Co. and Syntex Corp. over advertising claims for their Aleve over-the-counter painkiller. American Home Products had sought a court order prohibiting Procter & Gamble and Syntex from what it claims is false and misleading advertising that implies that Aleve is longer-lasting or more effective than Advil. The U.S. District Court refused to grant American Home Products’ request.
