Hyundai Motor Co.: The auto maker said Friday that it has selected Y.I. Lee, head of its Canadian operations, as president and chief executive of its U.S. import and distribution arm.

Lee, 51, succeeds D.O. Chung as top executive at Hyundai Motor America Inc. in Fountain Valley. Lee, a 26-year Hyundai veteran, will keep the posts of president and chief executive of Hyundai Auto Canada Inc.

Chung, 53, will return to Hyundai Motor Co. in South Korea as plant manager of a new factory. He will also be responsible for construction and organization of the facility. Chung was appointed president and chief executive of Hyundai Motor America in January, 1992. His return to South Korea is part of Hyundai’s regular rotation of its top executives.
