Consumer Prices Up 4.1%: Taiwan’s consumer price index rose 4.1% in 1994, mostly because of higher prices for food and increased wages in the service industries, the Cabinet reported. The consumer price rise, which surpassed the government’s target ceiling of 3.8%, was greater than an increase of 2.9% in 1993 yet below a 4.5% gain in 1992, a Cabinet statistics office said.
