Learning to Win Contracts: Managers interested in learning how to land contracts worth up to $100,000 in the private and public sectors can attend a workshop at 9 a.m. Wednesday sponsored by the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce at MiraCosta College in Oceanside. The seminar, which is intended for small businesses, will include talks by contract administrators from private companies such as Hughes Aircraft and from municipal entities, including the City of Escondido. Topics will include how to become a government-certified contractor and where to look for notices of contracts being let. The chamber expects a large turnout because, as a spokesman said, “business being what it is . . . companies are looking for new ways” to find business and want learn to navigate through the “contracting maze.” The workshop will include panel discussions by successful small-business contractors and purchasing representatives and experts.
