American Home Products to Cut 4,000 Jobs: The company made the announcement as it continues to digest last year’s acquisition of former rival American Cyanamid Co. The move brings the firm’s total job cuts announced so far to about 11% of the 76,000 people employed at the time when the two pharmaceutical companies merged in November--and the consolidation is probably not over. American Home said further plans for reductions in 1996 will be announced later this year. The recent cuts follow 4,600 reductions announced last year. American Home spokesman Lou Cafiero said the new reductions will affect all areas: administration, sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing and research in the United States and abroad.
