World IN BRIEF : EUROPE : 6 Deaths Blamed on Continued Flooding
Flood-related accidents took the lives of three people in Belgium and two in Germany as heavy rains inundated Northern Europe, forcing thousands to flee their homes ahead of rising waters. And a German motorcyclist drowned in Luxembourg in the Wiltz River, police said. The swollen Rhine River rose further in Cologne, Germany, and some parts of the city’s entertainment center were under six feet of water. In Paris, the Seine neared 13 feet above normal. Storm-related accidents have caused more than 20 deaths in Europe in the past two weeks.
