Firestone Named to Education Panel

Freshman Assemblyman Brooks Firestone (R-Santa Ynez) has been chosen vice chairman of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, his office has announced.

The Republican Caucus nominated him for the post, and his selection was officially read into the roll during an Assembly session last week.

“This position gives me an opportunity to take the lead on making sure our (education) system is accessible, affordable and academically unparalleled,” Firestone said in a news release.

The Higher Education Committee is responsible for overseeing legislation related to community colleges, state universities, the nine University of California campuses and independent colleges and universities.
