Ford Profit-Sharing Checks Will Average $4,000: Ford Motor Co. said the payouts to the company’s 160,000 U.S. employees are almost three times last year’s amount, which averaged $1,350. The No. 2 auto maker announced that its 1994 profits were $5.31 billion. General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Corp. also earned record profits in 1994. Profit-sharing checks at Chrysler will average $8,000. At GM, workers will receive an average of $550. The payments are based on the earnings of the companies’ U.S. automotive business.
