Company Town : Another Prospect for RCA Chief Joins the ‘No Thanks’ Chorus; Steve Burke to Head Euro Disney

BMG’s Canada chief, Bob Jamison, is the latest in a long list of prospective candidates to turn down an offer to run troubled RCA Records, company sources said.

They also said the German-owned company’s new North American chief, Strauss Zelnick, plans to restructure the label soon, with more than a dozen employees expected to get pink slips within two weeks.

The position has been vacant since RCA President Joe Galante gave up the job last fall to return to RCA’s Nashville operation. Others reportedly turning down the job include music agent Tom Ross.

* Euro Disney named Steve Burke president and chief operating officer. Burke had been an executive vice president at the struggling theme park near Paris.

* Steve Goldman was named executive vice president of Paramount Television Group.

* Longtime country music executive Jimmy Bowen will retire as president of Liberty Records and as co-chairman of EMI’s Christian Music Group on March 31 for health reasons.

* Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been appointed executive vice president of production at Warner Bros.

* The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences board named producer Robert Rehme and UCLA Prof. Gordon L. Berry new directors of the academy’s foundation.

* Steven Koltai has been named senior vice president of interactive entertainment for Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

* WarnerVision Entertainment hired Saban Entertainment executive David Goodman as president of WarnerVision TV, effective Feb. 20.

* Entertainment publicist Bumble Ward is linking her company with the New York publicity firm headed by Jason Weinberg.

* Brian Ferren has been named executive vice president for creative technology at Walt Disney Imagineering.

* Fox’s Searchlight Pictures named David Dinerstein senior vice president of marketing.

* Mike Maloney has been promoted to vice president of legal affairs at Walt Disney Television.

* New Line Cinema named Tony Hoffman vice president of production resources, Laura Garson vice president of television production and development and Robert Kobus senior vice president.

* Savoy Pictures Entertainment Inc. said Stacey Waldman Alper was appointed vice president and secretary.

* Tapestry Films named Jennifer Shankman vice president of creative affairs.

* Entertainment publicist Monique Moss is forming her own firm after 10 years with Levine/Schneider.

* Joshua Romm has been named director of domestic marketing for Hanna-Barbera Cartoons.
