Goldstar to Launch Software Unit to Support 3DO: The South Korean company is forming a division to produce entertainment software on CD-ROMs for 3DO Co. video-game machines. The Seoul-based electronics company, which launched its version of the 3DO system in November, plans to formally announce the effort next week at the Intermedia ’95 trade show, a company spokesman said. The effort is apparently intended to stimulate more consumer interest in the machines, which later this year will face stiff competition from new products made by Sega Enterprises, Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. Although the technology behind the Goldstar player was developed by the Redwood City, Calif.-based 3DO Co., 3DO does not make the machines.
