FULLERTON : Nonprofit Groups Sought for Cleanup

Share

The city is seeking nonprofit groups to adopt neighborhood parks as part of a 12-week cleanup program.

The groups are being asked to pick up litter and report any dangerous objects, broken equipment or suspicious activity to police. In exchange for the work, the cleaning crews will receive a onetime payment of $325.

Those interested are asked to apply at City Hall by 5 p.m. Feb. 15. Only nonprofit organizations whose memberships consist of mostly Fullerton residents are eligible.

The following parks and playgrounds will be assigned to the cleaning groups: Acacia, Adlena, Amerige, Beechwood, Byerrum, Chapman, Fern, Ford, Gilman, Grissom, Independence, Hermosa, Ladera Vista, Laguna Lake, Laguna Road, Lemon, Nature, Nicolas, Orangethorpe, Pacific Drive, Richman, Rolling Hills, Valencia and Woodcrest.

Because organizations outnumber parks and city officials expect to get too many applications, the Adopt-A-Park Committee will have a drawing to choose the organizations that will join the cleanup effort. The committee will also try to match individual organizations with the park of their choice.
