MISSION VIEJO : Programs on Black History to Be Aired

Radio station KSBR-FM (88.5) will be airing special one-hour programs on Thursday nights during February in honor of Black History Month.

Each program, which will be replayed the following Saturday, taps into an older generation of African Americans for their memories and perspectives of events in this century.

The Thursday segments air at 8 p.m., with Saturday replays at 9 p.m.

This Thursdaythe series will explore World War II and military segregation.

On Feb. 16 and 18, the Negro baseball leagues will be covered.

On Feb. 23 and 25, the town of Mound Bayou, Miss., is the program topic. The city, which was founded in 1887 by freed slaves, claims to be the largest all-black municipality in the country with a population of 2,222.
