Corn Sales to China Canceled: American exporters reported the cancellation of sales of 630,000 metric tons of the grain, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. It was not immediately clear whether the cancellation was linked to a trade spat between the United States and China over intellectual property rights. The department’s brief statement did not elaborate on whether Chinese or U.S. parties had canceled the sales. The corn was to have been shipped to China in the 1994-95 marketing year, which began Sept. 1. U.S. officials have previously said agriculture is expected to be kept out of the trade dispute.
