VENTURA : Sewer Rate Expected to Remain Steady

Share

Sewer rates in Ventura will probably remain the same for another year once the City Council decides the matter in May.

The three-member City Council Utilities Committee received a preliminary financial report Wednesday night indicating that rates will not have to be raised if the city continues to collect the revenues it expects, Ventura officials said.

“Preliminarily, we may not have to raise rates,” said Henry Graumlich, an administrative assistant with the public works department.

The committee will meet again in April to draft a recommendation, which will be forwarded to the full City Council for a decision, Graumlich said. Mayor Tom Buford and City Councilmen Jack Tingstrom and Steve Bennett sit on the committee.

Ventura charges $23.65 a month to consumers who use more than 1,500 cubic feet of water a month. Only Ojai charges higher sewer rates in Ventura County.
