THE O.J. SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL : Trial Highlights

Share

Some of the key events Thursday in the O.J. Simpson murder trial:

SUMMARY: Officer Robert Riske, the first officer to respond to the murder scene, described the bodies and the efforts made to keep evidence from being contaminated. In other business, Judge Lance A. Ito told jurors he will soon take them on a field trip to Brentwood, a potentially important defense witness was arraigned on theft and fraud charges, and Deputy Dist. Atty. William Hodgman rejoined the prosecution team.

WITNESSES: Riske spent the entire day on the stand. Under questioning from Deputy Dist. Atty. Marcia Clark, he said he had carefully avoided tracking in the blood at the scene and added that police tape had been stretched across the area before detectives arrived to begin their investigation. When cross-examined, Riske acknowledged that he had made a call on Nicole Simpson’s telephone and said he was not aware of any effort to photograph the inside of her house.

COMING UP: There are no formal hearings set for Friday or Monday. Ito has not said when he will hold the field trip, telling jurors only that “I’ll see you when I see you.”
