OAK PARK : 9 Seek Appointment to Municipal Council

Share

The race to fill two vacancies on the Oak Park Municipal Council has become surprisingly crowded.

So far, nine candidates are seeking appointment to the seats vacated by Ron Stark and J. Paul Fredericks in January. Stark quit after taking a job with recently elected Ventura County Supervisor Frank Schillo, and Fredericks moved out of the area.

“I’m real pleased about it,” Schillo said. “In the past there was very little respect for that (council).”

Schillo represents Oak Park and has the authority to make the two appointments, which he hopes to do by March.

Schillo said he is accepting applications through Friday and the three remaining Oak Park council members will interview all the candidates Feb. 28. The council will then forward five applications to Schillo.

The applicants are: Barbara Bronson-Gray, Todd Haines, Douglas Hewitson, Carl Jarecky, Chuck Monico, Diane Milavetz, Argyle Nelson, Philip Panitz and Bernard Schiffer.

Applicants must submit a resume and a cover letter to Schillo’s office, 199 W. Hillcrest Drive, Suite 201, Thousand Oaks, 91360.
