DOVE CANYON : Group Exploring Plan for Cityhood to Meet

Share

A steering committee formed to consider incorporation of several communities in the southeastern foothills of the county will meet today.

Residents of Dove Canyon, Coto de Caza, Rancho Cielo, Robinson Ranch, Trabuco Highlands, Trabuco Canyon, Rancho Santa Margarita, Portola Hills and Foothill Ranch are invited. The group extended a special invitation to the County Board of Supervisors and their staffs.

The nine communities are exploring whether to form the county’s 32nd city, partly in an attempt to avert cuts in county services caused by the bankruptcy.

Residents who formed the Foothill Communities Incorporation Committee have also cited the passage of Measure A, which calls for developing a commercial airport at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, as prompting the cityhood drive.

During Saturday’s meeting, proposed boundaries will be unveiled. A timetable for incorporation is also expected to be announced, as well as the board of directors.

The meeting is 8:30 a.m. at the Dove Canyon Country Club, 22682 Golf Club Drive.
