Los Alamitos

City Council meeting

When: Today, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Council chambers, 3191 Katella Ave.

What: The council will consider a resolution demanding full return of the city’s $2.2-million investment in the failed Orange County investment pool. The resolution mirrors what other cities, school and special districts have adopted over the past few days following the announcement of a plan to return 77 cents for every dollar invested in the county fund, with the remaining 23 cents to be paid out in the form of securities and “subordinated claims” with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. City officials say the only acceptable plan is one that will guarantee a 100% return of the investment. The resolution will stress that county officials “wrongfully and illegally” diverted at least $85 million of the pool’s interest earnings to a county “economic uncertainty fund.”
