BUENA PARK : Residents Gain Turn Lane, Lose Parking
Residents who have homes on Stanton Avenue between Page Street and Orangethorpe Avenue will lose curbside parking but gain a left-turn median in the next few weeks.
City Council members earlier this week agreed to let public works officials paint the curbs red on the east and west sides of the street.
A two-way, yellow-striped median will be added in the middle of the four-lane street for those making left turns. A left-turn pocket will also be added at Page Street, acting traffic engineer Paul Grimm said.
“I know there may be some inconvenience, but this has been a trouble spot for a long time,” said Mayor Don R. Griffin before the 5-0 vote giving approval.
Grimm said residents had been informed of previous Traffic Commission meetings on the issue and no one had complained of the proposal.
