ANAHEIM : New Policy Would Aid Groups Stage Events
The City Council will consider creating a new policy to aid volunteer organizations that stage community events.
The proposed policy would divide up to $15,000 in co-sponsorship grants to organizations sponsoring such events. The city would match an organization’s funds up to $5,000.
The city would support projects which are deemed to be “of significant communitywide value,” according to a city staff report.
Under the new policy, three existing community projects would be eligible for such matching grants. They are: the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, the July 4 Festival, and the proposed Fall Festival slated for Halloween.
Because of the absence of such a policy, city help to organizations has sometimes been uneven, city officials said.
“I want a consistent level of city support for all worthwhile community projects,” Mayor Tom Daly said.
