COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans’ Lahanas Scores 48 Points, Sets School Mark

Koko Lahanas set a Cal State Fullerton single-game record with 48 points as the Titans beat Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 103-78, in nonconference women’s basketball Tuesday at Fullerton.

Lahanas, a senior center, was 17 of 24 from the field, 14 of 20 on free throws and had 15 rebounds. Lahanas, who had 31 points in the second half, raised her average to 28.1. Her previous high mark was 40, set against Nevada Las Vegas this season.

The Titans’ Gena Miller scored 44 points twice in 1991.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Fullerton (11-10). Marissa Frial added 19 and Autumn Hollyfield had 16 for the Titans.

In another nonconference women’s game:

Chapman 98, Cal Lutheran 96 (OT)--Sig Lo made two free throws with two seconds left in overtime to give host Chapman (13-8) the upset of Cal Lutheran (21-1), the sixth-ranked team in Division III. It was Lo’s only two points of the game. Melody Earle scored 21 points and Faye Cruz 14 for Chapman.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Southern California College 78, Biola 74--Kevin Carlson scored 34 points and Chris Kostoff added 15 for visiting Southern California College (13-15, 3-8).

Azusa Pacific 101, Concordia 84--Pharoah Jones had 23 points, 21 in the second half, for visiting Concordia (22-7, 6-5). Azusa Pacific (21-7, 10-1) took sole possession of first place with the victory. The Cougars have a one-game lead over Westmont.
