WOODLAND HILLS : City Recycling Plan Called Biggest in State

Share

Cash for Trash, the nickname of a revenue-generating, cost-effective recycling program kicked off in Woodland Hills late last month, is reportedly the largest such effort in the state.

An expansion of the award-winning program embraced for years by the Warner Center Assn.--a group of 20 large Woodland Hills-based companies--aims to duplicate Warner Center’s recycling successes by leveraging its increased size to achieve greater values for recyclable goods and lower costs for waste removal.

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Laura Chick presided over the opening ceremonies. A spokeswoman for Chick, chairwoman of the City Council’s committee on Environmental Quality and Waste Management, said Chick finds the program exciting and promising.
