Slow Boat to Power Sector: Jackson Tai, chairman of J. P. Morgan Inc.’s Asia Pacific management committee, told a seminar in Beijing that China “has not been getting it right” in attempts to attract foreign investment to the power sector. Among those in the audience was Shi Dazhen, China’s minister of electric power. “The money exists, but it is moving to Indonesia, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Malaysia,” Tai said. Beijing has balked at offering any figure close to the 20% return some Asian power projects offer.
